Bringing Hope on Sunday

No, this is not another Chiefs post…

This Sunday, I’ll be preaching at my home congregation, the Olathe Community of Christ.

It is the second Sunday of the Advent season and the theme is “Bring Hope”. If you’re in the neighborhood, please feel free to stop by and say hello. I’ll be the one up front orating and expounding.

Fall has fallen

The leaves of our beautiful red maple tree in our front yard are starting to change. We seem to have the last tree on the block to change colors. I think that’s a good thing. Shows how virile our tree is or something like that…

But man, do I ever love this time of year. While I would prefer a little cooler weather (I’m more of a 50-degrees kind of guy), you just can’t beat the feeling of brisk, fresh air in your lungs as you walk to and from your car at work. I wish I could enjoy the outdoors more. Maybe sometime down the line when I have my own business I’ll be able to have an outdoor area complete with wireless and power that people could take their MacBooks out and work in the fresh air.

It’s been a crazy busy week. Alli and I have had plans every evening, spending two nights this week in Lee’s Summit and then having some friends over another night. The only night to ourself we’ve had was Monday, which is our big TV night.

I’ll be preaching this Sunday in the Manhattan Community of Christ, and I’m very much looking forward to it. We have some people we know out there and I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of preaching regularly.

It was good to spend some time with our niece last night, although she hasn’t been feeling too well lately. Still…when she’s happy, she is just the most adorable thing. And watching Jake and Kelly sort out being parents is really fascinating. I’m enjoying experiencing that vicariously through them since we aren’t planning on having kids of our own.

I know this post is kind of all over the place, but I wanted to get something up to say, Hey, I missed you Internet. Hope to talk to you soon.
