Professional Experience

Cerner Corporation, Kansas City, MO — since March 2009

Program Manager, Online Marketing

At Cerner Corporation, one of the largest healthcare companies in America, I am a member of the online marketing team, which is responsible for all of Cerner’s activities online, including websites and email newsletters. I joined Cerner during an exciting time for the company and have helped roll out our social network for our clients, called uCern. I also am responsible for social media strategy for the company and Cerner.com.

SunBridge Capital, Inc., Mission, KS —November 2006 through December 2008

Marketing Specialist

At SunBridge Capital, a financing company that specializes in leasing heavy equipment and work trucks and trailers, I served as a senior member of the small marketing team. I was responsible for strategy as well as the planning and executing of projects ranging from weekly advertising in trade magazines and shoppers to redesigning the web site of the inventory liquidation brand, Trucks at Hand. My varied background helped me to make strong decisions and the efforts of the marketing team helped the inventory team to reach record sales numbers during a time when construction equipment sales were down overall.

I worked diligently to help SunBridge Capital create a cohesive brand image and carried that brand through all areas from print to web to direct mail to e-mail marketing, etc. In addition to my regular roles, I helped to develop a new production designer into a more effective marketer.

I was also on the forefront of technology development for the company’s clients, working with key clients as well as the development group to create efficient technology that made working with the company more effective.

Perceptive Software, Inc., Shawnee, KS — May 2000 through November 2006

As a member of a growing enterprise, I held many different roles over the course of my 6 ½ years employment. As an initial member of the marketing team, I helped to shape the brand of a company that was named one of Kansas City’s Coolest Places to Work in 2006 by Ingram’s Magazine. Detailed below are the official titles I held at the Shawnee-based software developer:

Marketing Communications Specialist

In my initial position at Perceptive Software, I was responsible for nearly all of the written marketing materials produced, including: customer success stories, brochures, and advertisements. I worked side-by-side with an agency initially and then began to slowly take over design of printed materials. I was also responsible for writing for the corporate web site, initially developing many of the pages using the company’s Lotus Notes content management system. I also developed and wrote a customer newsletter.

Trade Show Coordinator

During the growth of the company, we began attending many trade shows as a marketing opportunity. I managed that initiative for 18 months, organizing logistics for over 80 trade shows annually with a budget of approximately $400,000. In addition, I helped to shape our marketing pitch at trade shows and was very involved with the re-branding of all of the company’s booths.

Graphic Designer

In 2002, I began working as a graphic designer. I was involved in every aspect of design with the company, from brochure design to advertising to interactive and PowerPoint presentations. I have developed relationships with vendors and negotiated terms with them as well. I led the internal marketing agenda, creating many employee-facing marketing materials, including invitations, handbooks, and training materials. I also conceptualized the initial advertisement with our new identity that helped to shape the style of our branding that still exists today.

Interactive Designer

While I was often called upon to provide my creative input on print projects, my focus was on interactive pieces for the Web, such as banners and demonstrations. I also designed self-running pieces for trade shows, CDs, and presentations using tools such as Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, and others.
