		<description>I think in this case to a large degree the fault lies not in our stars, but in ourselves. The shallowness of the American public (and the public abroad as well) is what makes these artists larger and more influential than they should be. 

Great art should be admired and rewarded. But I would argue that there isn&#039;t a tremendous amount of great art out there, not to the degree that it is hyped on American Idol. 

Should the Michael Jackson story be front page, leading broadcast news for two weeks running? Only in a society that has lost it&#039;s way.</description>
