Design Funk

I’m in a weird design funk at work.

I feel like my ideas are stale and everything that I do looks derivative. My wife, bless her, has given me some inspiration this morning that I am going to try and realize…we shall see what happens.

Anyone know what to do to get out of a funk?

  1. Quit your job, move across the country and pay some little Indian man a lot of money to kick your behind twice daily?

Alternatively, I like to listen to new music to spark some creativity.

  2. I know it sounds silly, but sometimes playing like you are 10 again can help. Take your dog out looking for frogs or something. You may discover something you otherwise would have overlooked.

  3. i like to look at fashion or painting or even just other designers’ blogs to get inspiration. you can always find new color combos looking through interior design mags, too.

  4. Hmmmmm….Rachel’s ideas sound very familiar don’t they Shane! Good one Rachel – I am right there with you – that is what I do!

  5. Try drugs. It worked for Jim Morrison and he’s still reaping the benefits. At least his widow is. Never mind.

  6. go out and run a few miles everyday and eat your veggies. oh, ya, eat a lot of bran, you will work the funk out of your system – and anything else that might be bothering you.
